The RLFANS Dictionary

Home

Welcome to the RLFans Dictionary.

Our aim is to record the history and document the users of RLFans and to preserve this as a record for future generations. We consider ourselves part Samuel Pepys and part Robert Cawdry. But most important was the thought: if we don't do this, who the hell will? And thus would be missed a document of record of the life of a monster, our beloved RLFans.

All the key posters are recorded below, including all first 100 registered users although some entries remain incomplete. We need your help! Please email us at rlfansdictionary@lycos.com and we will update the dictionary to include any suggested corrections, amendments and new listings. Many, many thanks to those fans who have already contacted us and helped considerably to expand our coverage of certain sections, particularly of the early years.

Adeybull First 100. Respected and knowledgeable Bulls fan who formed the core of a team of informed posters on the rlfans Bradford board in the early years of the decade, along with others such as Ferocious Aardvark, vbfg and Asim. The quiet success of this board lay in part to the longer-lasting official Bulls forum which filtered off the less intelligent Bulls girls and boys whereas their equivalents among Leeds and Saints fans would flood to rlfans after the rivals shiftover. Picking these fans off one by one as they trolled on redamberandblack.com was entertaining if somewhat repetitive after a while.

Agent Provocateur Well-known as Jeff from RSRL and ASRL, 'AP' has for some time played the troll card with pervasive success, particularly on the well-populated Leeds and Saints boards. Credibility suffered with twin Attention Whore episodes on the Sin Bin (over the appointment of Wigan Fan as a moderator) and on Southstander.com (where he posted a poll asking users if he should leave the board: the result was a 'yes' and AP left but returned soon after with no reference to his previous disappearance). Continues his routine to this day but even his hard-core admirers are now asking where new material is going to come from.

aitch First 100. Long-standing Saints fan.

alf king First 100. Early registration was clearly not enough to encourage Alf to ever contribute to rlfans. He remained (and remains) an occasional contributor to RSRL and its tipping comp.

and another david First 100. Unknown early user.

andrew_maye First 100. Wigan fan from RSRL who registered but never posted on rlfans.

Angela

Angry Anteater rlfans slang: see Ferocious Aardvark

AP See Agent Provocateur

Arthur First 100. Possibly ex-RSRLer Arthur Pye, latterly a London Broncos fan.

Arthur Bitter First 100. Early-registering scouser username with limited but well-spread out outings since signing up.

ASRL RSRL's Australian brother group. Flame City, the humiliating and derided attempts by certain members to set up an 'Elite group' of posters outside ASRL are a warning for breakaway factions in all internet forums.

Attention Whoring   The practice of proclaiming "I am leaving this message board for ever. I bid you all, 'Good Night!'". Often followed up by returning some time later tail between legs. Noted Attention Whores include John Senior (who requested he be banned for fear he may have the ability to post once more under the same user name) and Agent Provocateur.

B.I.F.F.O  See Oldham Rhino

Beck First 100. Unknown early user.

Big Graeme Stern Sin Bin moderator who also masquerades as a London fan on occasion. Appears to revel in the role of Bin stormtrooper and would be a top candidate in any "most unpopular mod" poll. If such a thing were allowed at any rate. Any questioning of his or his fellow Bin Bosses' authority is quickly quashed. As Brian Noble said about a similar clampdown on criticism of referees, "That's how Nazi Germany started. They'll be burning books next."

Big Joe  First 100. Unknown early user.

Biggs Wire fan who was a prominent early poster along with his seemingly interchangeable soul-mate Raffy. Now missing from rlfans for an extended period.

billypop First 100. Aged poster who in recent times has shown signs of irritability which has undermined previously genial reputation as one of the core of a good-natured Bradford board. Nowadays seems to be too easily wound-up by Leeds feckwits and trolls whilst his own contributions have diminished somewhat.

Bitter, Arthur  See Arthur Bitter

Blackbrook Saint First 100.  Intermittently-posting St Helens fan closely associated with Haydock ARLFC.

Blobby Goulding

Boyer, Steve  See Stevie Blue Sox

BSAB Short for Blood Sweat and Bears. A Fax fan, BSAB's promotion to  moderator disturbed many longer-term rlfannies who still saw him as a kid with much to learn about the dark arts of messageboarddom. The later news that he'd produced offspring saw those same members shocked. BSAB though has grown up with rlfans and in reflection many would say that he's probably a good kid all things considered.

Bstand First 100. Unknown early user.

bullgoddess  First 100. Unknown early user.

C for Cuckoo First 100. Hull fan from the early days who has continued to post intermittently through to the present day.

Code13

cod'ead

CraigMurray First 100. Long-standing Saints poster from RSRL who transferred at an early stage to rlfans. Associated perhaps too closely with Matt O'Neill's originally discredited rleague.com, Murray's occasionally bizarre observations continue to entertain. Founder member of the 'Sean Long is a centre' movement, he also spent much time demanding Paul Wellens play scrum half.

Dalton, Chris  See Chris Dalton

Dannyboy One of the more regular posters from the Leeds board, identified both with the Southstander.com Clique and the Lost Loiners (qv). Notorious for a series of alternative identities and is considered by some likely to be Walter Mitty, one of the resident Leeds board trolls, and a possibility for Dutoni. Experts consider it difficult to pin down his true thoughts on Rugby League due to the opposing points of view his user names present. This is felt to be a shame as there is a chance he has something to offer outside trolling. However, there is an equally likely chance that he falls into the more common Leeds fan category of feckwit.

Daryl Catpiss

dave f First 100. Unknown early user but possibly sometime RSRLer Dave Fisher.

Dave Lister Either a Leeds fan or a Broncos/Quins fan depending on the weather and, seemingly, the league table. Noted as being possibly the biggest leeboy in the world.

DaveO First 100. RSRL notable who took his time before contributing in any meaningful way to rlfans and stayed loyal to the newsgroup long after many had forsaken it. Now well involved in Wigan discussions, particularly in the light of his club's more recent fall from grace, his interactions with fans from other teams have become somewhat restricted although all the more entertaining for it. Spends much of the time hiding behind his cherry and white spectacles. Encounters with fellow ex-RSRLers are particularly worth observing.

Davey First 100.  Unknown early user.

DavidM First 100. Unknown early user.

deceptive First 100. Unknown early user.

Dee Brookes First 100. Well-known RSRLer who never made the move to rlfans despite being a Saints fan.

Despondent Dave Saints fan called Dave with generally pessimistic outlook. Generally considered one of the less irritating of the Scouse fans.

Disguised trolls Posters who, under an anonymous or deliberately misleading pseudonym, provocatively post on the boards of opposition or otherwise delicate fans in an attempt to provoke an outraged or otherwise out-of-proportion response. Dutoni (qv) is considered the leading figure in this movement due to his pan-board appeal, although more club-specific posters have followed in his wake.

dlucchese First 100.Unknown early user.

Drake, John See John Drake

Dutoni Historical and long-running Rugby Union troll whose true identity remains a closely-guarded secret. Appeared on the early pre-rlfans Virtual Terrace (as Georit) before transferring to the new site in due course. Other appearances have been made on a variety of other forums, notably scrum.com and totalrl.com. Other usernames previously used have been Wizard, Vizard and, latterly, Locksman, although he is probably still best known as Dutoni. Persistence is a key hallmark and his longevity is a tribute both to the quality of his product and the never-ending number of posters willing to engage with him in serious debate. Despite the construction of a detailed character around Dutoni, such as his being a retired ex-Orrell RU official and player, living in Wigan etc, rumours continue to abound that he was and is simply the lovingly-crafted persona of an existing rlfans user. Fingers have been pointed at a variety of higher-profile posters such as Dannyboy, MjM, Mike McLennan and Mugwump, among many others. There remains the possibility that Dutoni exists as a real person.

exile_in_t_north First 100. London fan who has been around for ages.

Fartown Jonny Rotund poster closely associated with fellow Huddersfield fan Smiler. FJ specialised in spectacular off- and on-site bust-ups and eventually became too much even for the patient rlfans mods to deal with, being permanently banned. Often to be found with Smiler at rlfans meets, and in personal testimony to the dictionary claims to be a nice person in the flesh. And what a lot of flesh there is. See also the definition of "nice person".

Fax, Tony See Tony Fax

Feckwits Term in broad use across rlfans and championed it is believed at least initially by vbfg (qv). Latterly closely identified with Leeds fans.

Ferocious Aardvark  Old school RSRLer previously trading under names such as "Russell Smith's Mother" and, latterly "Russell Smith's Optician". Entering debate with FA has widely been considered ill-advised, if only because even on occasion when he is on weak ground, his inability to concede defeat will ensure a lengthy and not very productive debate over mundane minutiae, much of it stored away in his vast and complex series of spreadsheets maintained in seemingly great (although not 100% accurate on occasion) detail. A Bulls fan, FA considers the Bradford forum his own personal fiefdom.

Ferocious Arsefart  rlfans slang: see Ferocious Aardvark

Forum 2  Shorthand for the second incarnation of the London Broncos' internet forum as re-established by Steve Morris (qv)

Forum Admin First 100. Registered User no. 5 but with over 12,000 posts, none of which were made under this name. This anomaly is explained by the fact that 'Forum Admin' is the name allocated to Sadfish's (qv) old account after the early 2006 bust-up.

Free Mike McClennan See Mike McClennan

Fun Bus Dispersed grouping of St Helens supporters whose history pre-dates rlfans but who are felt by certain board members to form a ruling, agenda-setting elite on their club's board. Associated, fairly or unfairly, with abusive language. The presence on the eponymous vehicle used to transport fans to away games of Eammon McMannus in 2005 after the Ian Millward sacking was in many ways considered both a desperate PR move by the Saints board and a sell-out by this supposed 'hard core' of Saints fans.

Gareth Main First 100. Unknown early user.

Gareth1

Gavin

Geoff Foster First 100. Zero posts as registered user no. 3, Geoff Foster is actually Mugwump's real name.

Geoff Newman First 100. RSRL-based Wigan fan who didn't transfer to rlfans

Georit  See Dutoni

giovanni First 100. Enthusiastic London Broncos fan who latterly established the commercial website http://forty-twenty.com. Active in the London messageboard team the London Griffins.

Glorious League Freak, the See League Freak

Glynola  First 100. Early-registering Wigan fan.

Goulding, Blobby  See Blobby Goulding

grid First 100. Paul Holloway, a Saints fan involved hands-on at the very start of rlfans although the username has been used irregularly.

gulfcoast_highwayman

H.I.P.P.O rlfans slang: see Oldham Rhino

Haighy

HH

Homer  First 100. Cockney London fan involved from the very start and still a moderator and extensive contributor. Involved hands-on with the London club on occasion, is considered by some Harlequins fans to be a little too authoritarian in moderation. The history of the London messageboards (from the original forum, to Forum 2 then London Calling's post-fanzine board, its demise etc) are worthy of a book all their own, but accurately reflect the complexities involved in being a London fan.

HUGGABLE FRANKS FAN First 100. Wigan fan forced into abandonment of username after Huggable Frank squeezed himself into the revolving door out of Wigoon and back to Kiwiland.

Hugh Janus First 100. Saints fan with connections to the rlfans hierarchy and the Fun Bus, Hugh Janus is perhaps best-known on rlfans for his photoshopped pictures.

Iain  First 100. In on the ground floor of rlfans, Iain was involved with the Scarlet Turkey including its transformation from fanzine to website, initially with rivals.com. It was a logical move to transfer the site to rlfans when Rivals stopped their support. Closely identified also with SRISA.

Iro, Sam See Sam Iro

Jeff  See Agent Provocateur

jimbull First 100. Occasional-posting Bradford fan who has accumulated a healthy number of posts under the radar of most observers.

John D

John Drake RLSA and Bradford Bulls board moderator who later switched to LPL's planetrugbyleague.com and latterly totalrl.com websites.

John Senior Ostensibly brother of Leeds & GB centre Keith, John Senior was an outspoken and perpetually outraged poster noted for following his brother's career rather than any particular club. Extended arguments over the validity (and scientific validation or even existence of) the so-called 'Momentum Rule' were an entertaining if repetitive arena for JS on the Virtual Terrace. It was, however, on the Leeds boards that Senior made his most noted interventions with repeated run-ins with Agent Provocateur (qv) culminating in his disappearance from the board. A volatile poster, John Senior illuminated many a dull exchange with his contributions, two demonstrative examples from the old leedsrugby.com board being quoted here: "You lot are the dumbest set of supporters in rugby league. I'm only pleased that Keith is taking your hard earned giro money. When Keith plays badly I will take solice in the fact that it makes you morons angry." and "Mrs Hirst - Watch the video you dumb bitch. You know *****all about rugby league." (both quotes from http://www.leedsrugby.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000119.html )

Joynt's Voluntary Tackle Long-standing thread on the Bradford board stemming from the accusations that Saints captain Chris Joynt executed a voluntary tackle in the closing stages of the 2002 Grand Final, an offence referee Russell Smith did not notice or did not consider worth a penalty which, converted, would have handed Bradford victory rather than the usual defeat. The thread soon strayed away from its original topic and was considered a protected species until being unexpectedly locked after over two years of existence. Rescued and transferred out of its redamberandblack.com ghetto, it found a wider audience in the Virtual Terrace but has since disappeared for good.

Kate First 100. Possibly occasional RSRLer Kate Iddon, a Wigan fan with Sam Iro-esque superficialities.

Kazzy

kim First 100. Unknown early user.

King Dong  First 100. Unknown early user.

King of the Internet, the See League Freak

King, Alf See alf king

lbrlfc First 100. London fan.

League Freak A Chorley-based Aussie observer, the Freak maintained an entertaining if unilluminating website with a no-holds barred forum which provided home to many who wished to express anti-rlfans or (more usually) anti-totalrl.com sentiments. Unexpectedly died in early April 2006 before inexplicably resuming postings after this date. Self-proclaimed 'King of the Internet' many would come to the conclusion that he is in fact, just another Aussie with a penis two sizes too small. Unusual but occasionally comical aversion to Salford.

Lee Mullen First 100. Unknown early user.

Leeds Fan Loyalty Test Satire on the feckwittery of Leeds fans first posted by A65Loiner but provenance unknown. Still available for view at http://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?t=168372. Its greatest and perhaps most telling success was that some posters actually thought it was a real quiz and took the time to respond in kind.

Leyther Matt

Liverpool City for everLC First 100. Early user with just 9 posts to their name. No further details known.

lloyd First 100. Unknown early user. Possibly associated with RSRLer Lloyd Barkham although that user later registered in his own name and as 'Barries Dad'.

Locksman See Dutoni

londonsaint First 100. Unknown early user.

Lost Loiners Message board RL team closely identified with the Southstander.com clique (qv).

Martin First 100. Unknown early user.

martyn First 100. Unknown early user.

Marvin First 100. Destined for a life trawling news servers and automatically posting updates to the news section of the board, Marvin was originally an anonymous and unused admin username before being spruced up for his new role.

Mike McClennan  First 100. Scouser-in-chief who operated the initial fanzine Free Mike McLennan and later transferred his website to rlfans. Thinks he's brilliant but many would have a dissenting opinion. Believed to be behind a number of the more notorious troll identities around although no evidence has ever been found.

Mike Roberts First 100. Well-known RSRLer turned unprolific rlfanny under this user name, Mike Roberts was much more active on the Broncos' Forum and Forum 2.

Mikul First 100.  Little-seen but memorable Bradford fan from the rlfans early days.

Mintball

MjM First 100. Tetchy Leeds insider whose notable loiner.com website took a bitchy but nostalgic look at the Whinos and their failures. Became established as one of the most prolific and well-known early posters, often in old-style 'Undisguised troll' mode but little seen since March 2004 after an unlikely spat with rlfans admins. Possibly Dutoni (qv). Not believed to be part of the Southstander.com clique.

Mk.13 First 100. Durham-based Thunder fan involved latterly in the club's ISA.

Moaner See CraigMurray

Morgan, Vince See Vince Morgan

Morris, Steve See Talcum

Mr Wigan First 100. The most notorious and prolific poster on rlfans in its early years, Mr Wigan was an early and much-loved 'undisguised troll', flitting between club message boards and leaving a trail of unanswered posts in his wake. For a long period the site's top poster, and only ousted from this spot after the post-Rivals bubble, his disappearance and subsequent on/off reappearances have tended to incite bouts of nostalgia amongst longer-term posters delighted to see the return of the fallen champion. Now missing for some considerable time, it is doubtful whether his rather obvious wind-ups would be quite so well received in a more cynical and troll-wary age.

Mugwump First 100. rlfans chief who, along with Sadfish, set a scouse leaning for the site from the start. Trolling attempts continue to this day, but his lack of credibility was confirmed by the departure of Sadfish and Mugwump can now be viewed as something of a tragic figure. Although still the boss, few would admit to actually liking him.

nitsua First 100. Popular and long-standing Wigan fan.

nodrog First 100. Unknown early user.

Official boards In the pre-rlfans days, many clubs featured messageboards on their official websites, the most notable, due to sheer volume of posts, being those featured on the Leeds, Wigan, Saints, Bradford and Warrington sites. The cataclysmic demise of the Pie-Eating forum presaged the gradual shutdown of all these forums over a period of time, the Bradford one being the last to disappear. The general explanation was that club staff had neither the time nor inclination to ferret around reading posts to check ASAP there were no libellous comments contained therein and the fear of legal action or associated implications was clearly to the fore in each case.

Oldham Rhino Purportedly a Leeds fan with insider knowledge, Oldham Rhino has modest credibility on the basis that he jumped from supporting Oldham to supporting Leeds after the demise of the Bears. Having somehow worked his way up the greasy pole of the Headingley operation, he obtained the position of commentator on club videos. Claims that he was in tears when the Whinos won the 2004 Grand Final were widely met with derision. Generally posts little of value but is all-too keen for everyone to know how well-connected he is. Betrays this by posting obtuse messages followed by dots... [ie. 'I know something that I'm desperate for you to know I know, but due to my privileged and high-profile position within the club I couldn't possibly betray the confidence']. Humourless.

Olly First 100. Unknown early user.

Oslo Rhino Leeds fan who in recent times has disappeared from rlfans, although questions remain as to whether he was banned, has disappeared up a Norwegian Fjord or changed to a new username.

ozbash  First 100. Unknown early user.

PAUL M

Paul Thexton First 100. Blue-shirted Wire with geek tendencies, Thecko would probably count as one of rlfans most loved and lovable posters.

PC First 100. Bulls-supporting RSRLer who appeared on rlfans in its early days before the username promptly fell out of use.

PD First 100. Unknown early user.

philipkelly84 First 100. Unknown early user.

Pie Eater and Proud of It  Wigan fan who was a respected regular on many of the old-style official club message boards before being in pretty much at the start of rlfans although not becoming a regular user until some time later.

Raffy Wire fan who was a prominent early poster along with his seemingly interchangeable soul-mate Biggs. Now missing from rlfans for an extended period.

RedVee First 100.Scouse fan who posted fairly frequently in the early years before tailing off more recently.

RichM  First 100. Unknown early user.

Rivals.net Independent commercial website which housed many of the forums and websites which latterly formed much of the rlfans network. An announcement that Rivals would no longer support Rugby League fan sites in early 2002 precipitated a large-scale (but not universal) transfer to rlfans on 27 February of that year. The rlfans press release included the following: "RLSA Campaign Manager, Paul Cunliffe commented, "when I first heard that the network was being set adrift I immediately offered up space for the sites affected, thankfully they have accepted the offer and Geoff Foster and myself are thankful that new homes could be found for all the sites.  We look forward to helping each other grow over the coming years." "

rlcoach First 100. Saints fan.

rlfannies rlfans slang: generic term for rlfans posters or the membership as a whole.

RSRL Rugby League newsgroup from which rlfans drew much of its initial membership, RSRL (short for rec.sport.rugby.league) has a colourful history all of its own, including the original discussions and campaigning to extract the sport from the smothering and flame-war infested rec.sport.rugby. Now largely moribund and superseded by internet forums, some posters cling to it as a reminder of the early days and of battles won but now forgotten. The idea that Rugby League required petitions and expressions of interest and support to have its own newsgroup places the group at the vanguard of one of the final RU-RL battlefields but the victory now seems altogether unimportant.

Sadfish Technically a founder-member and central pillar of rlfans, Sadfish (Paul Cunliffe) had established a reputation as a level-headed if somewhat hippyish Saints fan on RSRL over a number of years. Closely involved with the Saints Heritage organisations, Sadfish was a key mover behind the unprecedented early 2006 split of redvee.net away from the website he co-founded. Observers await the full details of exactly what pre-empted the split, but strained relations with Mugwump (qv) are considered a likely cause.

Saint Lisa First 100. Unknown early user.

Saint Rich First 100. London-based and genial Saints fan.

saintcooper First 100. Unknown early user.

Sam Iro A generally irrelevant and annoying Saints fan but one to whom an rlfans poster type can be attributed ['The Sam Iro' or 'Sam Iros' type]: the superficial, uninteresting and off-topic queen (or king) who has little to say about Rugby League in general, or even their club in particular. Often to be found inhabiting the Sin Bin but with little of note to contribute.

Sin Bin, the The rlfans off-topic forum, in its earliest days, the Sin Bin was a haven for XXX pictures and was most certainly not suitable for all members of the family. A series of crackdowns and beefed-up moderation meant an end to these freewheeling, anything-goes times and many considered the neutered forum had become rather tame. Regular bouts of soul-searching have ensued to this day as to whether the Bin has lost its edge, although few of the posters claiming this to be the case make reference to or were even around in that first halcyon era, their comparison being Bastardised Bin to even more Bastardised Bin as the board slid into an over-moderated hell. The Bin, sucking up the rlfans server space to a particularly skewed degree was a regular source of friction amongst the admins (esp. Mugwump vs Sadfish), some of whom felt that it had no place on a Rugby League website.

Smiler Huddersfield fan and over-zealous moderator who, experts have hypothesised, could be in the running for person most fellow posters would like to punch in the face. Believes he is the life and soul of the Giants party and his fall-outs with big-bellied chum Fartown Jonny were entertaining for rlfannies in earlier days. Not half as interesting to others as he clearly is to himself.

Southstander.com Leeds forum and associated messageboard initially run as an independent operation before transfer to Rivals. There the site prospered although the first real breakthrough was after the mysterious disappearance of the official leedsrugby.com board in 2000 upon which many of the core posters from the former transferred over to the independent site. Southstander.com was one of the key boards to move over to rlfans after the cessation of Rivals support for Rugby League in February 2002.

Southstander.com clique Dispersed group of Leeds posters who, whilst holding on the face of it divergent opinions regarding their club, can, by dint of personal relationships and social interaction, be identified as a ruling body of opinion-setters on the Leeds board who are intolerant both of newcomers and of people with opposing views or mindsets. Whilst members may deny knowledge of any such body, there is much accumulated evidence to the contrary which has contributed to the loss of several board members (see 'Attention Whoring') and the not-so underground movement of non-clique members optimistically hoping for a new Leeds board outwith rlfans. None of these users have, to date, progressed such an idea although the success of the Saints board away from rlfans may inspire such a breakaway.

Prides himself on knowing the inside track in Scouseland.

Tony Fax Halifax fan of the rlfans old school who spent much of the early years of the site jousting with Mr Wigan but latterly, after Fax's demise into obscurity, has been little seen away from rlfax.com. Closely associated with Leeds fan MjM.

Totalrl.com Website of League Publications Limited, the forum of which was once seen as one of rlfans biggest rivals. Run by the pleasant but too-often humourless John Drake, the site's decision in April/May 2004 to require excessive personal details and, for new members, a registration fee, saw a decline into relative obscurity and the consequent transfer of several of the more flamboyant posters over to rlfans. Crossover between totalrl and rlfans, once extensive, is now minimal and relatively few posters are regulars on both. LPL had a poor relationship with rlfans from the start being unwilling to take adverts for the new site when it was originally established in August/September 2000 due to the perceived competition it would provide for their own (then meagre) internet offerings.

TrevorS First 100. Unknown early user, but possibly sometime ASRLer Trevor Speering.

Übertroll Trolls who have such a hold over a board or boards that the indiginous population cannot help but find a significant proportion or even the majority of threads taken over by an agenda set by these resident trolls. Most notable are considered Dutoni (qv), who has an exellent and respected track record in subtly transforming topics onto Rugby Union-related issues and Agent Provocateur (qv). The latter's success is felt in certain respects to be even more pervasive, his most noted achievement being to set the mood of Southstander.com posters prior to the 2006 season. Studies showed that amongst the population of posters and readers of the Message Board, the optimism for the season ahead was significantly lower than that of people who did not read the board and this was felt to be directly attributable to the campaign waged by 'AP' and certain members of the Southstander.com clique (qv) against optimists (succesfully branded 'Believists' by the doomsayers). AP's success was such that helped to engender a "fashion for pessimism" which, in the opinion of outsiders, was largely unrelated to the facts as they were known.

Undisguised trolls Opposition fans who, without much pretence at credibility, post undisguised wind-ups on opposition fans boards, usually in the pre-match or direct after-match of a game involving their and the relevant opposition club. A practice at first championed by the likes of Mr Wigan and Tony Fax.

vbfg First 100. RSRL and rlfans stalwart Bradford fan with username acronym for 'Vibrating Bum-Faced Goats' in deference to an obscure Viz character. Occasional rlfans dummy-spits included demands that his account be deleted (a request soon reversed) and loud proclamations that he is neither an admin nor a moderator. These claims went and continue to go disregarded and he can be seen positively as a key member of the rlfans hierarchy.

Vermin rlfans (esp. St Helens) slang for Wigan RLFC or their fans

Vince Morgan First 100.

Virtual Terrace, the For many years before the arrival of rlfans itself, the VT was a popular messageboard in its own right, being run by John Drake of the RLSA who later also helped out on the Bradford board before switching to LPL's new somewhat pompous "internet presence", latterly totalrl.com. The original VT was a breeding ground for trolls such as Georit (Dutoni) but the establishment of rlfans in August 2000 as an extension of the RLSA's own site saw the board logically transferred to the new format, and the trolls initially did not follow, the old version of the VT persisting for some time thereafter.
